Day 8...

Day 8 began with the boys rushing out into the cold to get a strawberry then yells of excitement.  Sour strawberry eaten and me being dragged out at around 7am to see what has happened...

Green Shoots!  The boys were yelling "CARROTS!" but I had to point out that they were radishes because Carrots take forever to come up.  (Which is why I always like to plant Radishes along side Carrots)  So on Day 8 we had Radishes appear in the first two pictures then in the second two you see the teeny tiny green shoots of peas trying to push through and in the pot an tiny green double leaf of Silverbeet / Rainbow Chard (Squint and you might make it out! hehe)... so this morning was very exciting ;-)
So Thomas began to dig the next garden bed which I am thinking we might put some spring onions in the front and more carrots in the back since onions and legumes aren't good companions if we keep the onions at the front of the bed we should be ok ;-)

Brandon helped with the Lemon Grass we are sharing stripping off the dead leaves with me and popping them into plastic cups with some newspaper and potting mix.  We ended up planting some in the garden since we have sandy soils it shouldn't be too much to dig out and tidy up :-)

The pictures are the cups sitting upright in containers... there should be enough for everyone :-)

Now it was time to break our the power tools... Brandon drilled drainage holes in some cups for our seeds (with the biggest drill bit he could find!)  We planted so many seeds in the cups... lettuces, lettuces, lettuces.... parsley, black kale, red malabar, chives, mustard greens and a heap more... as we were doing this Brandon spies the first bean breaking through and stole the phone to document it ;-)

Lazy Housewife number 1 ;-)

Brandon planting Chives :-)

The strawberries have settled in nicely.  Not only some mature fruit but plenty for flowers on both the pink and white flowered strawberries ;-)

Some of the Newspaper pots that got seeded today... "Just like Grandpop."

The way I finished my Gardening today... Chris brought me a glass of fizzy out while I did the watering... awww x

Have a good day.. *hugs* Sarah
