Day 36 - a Saturday

While I was prepping to make Tomato Kasaundi I spied Brandon out the window babying his Chocolate Mint!  He then watered the rest of the hanging baskets :-)  He is loving gardening!
I was stunned when Mr Eagle Eyes spied green in the Oregano which I am certain has not been in 5 days... only one but it is there!  Brandon also spied what we think *might* be a curry leaf tree.. alas our first "baby" died after my junior gardener "helped" by digging it out with gusto... ah well... plenty more alive in the garden :-)

The Pink Flowering Strawberries each have a clump of beds in the centre of the plant so they have as Mr B says "Made themselves at home."
That's it from me *hugs* Sarah

Day 35

I had to rely on Mr Brandon for watering today...  a migraine came to visit and didn't take note that it wasn't welcome... too much sun outside for me :-(

Day 34

I lost Brandon!  He finished his homework and was *gone* out the back after making a milk bottle watering can so he could water HIS hanging baskets. LoL

I was shortly after summoned from my ironing to "Come Look!"...
Brandon after showing me his beanstalk... it's going great guns and still didn't get frosted :-)  Then found another curry leaf tree germinating!  Wooo Hooo...
Brandon taking mint leaves... lol at least he is eating his greens!  He is still trying to figure out which one is peppermint... I wonder if there will be any leaves left before he figures it out hehe.

Brandon found the first celery germinated!
The first Nasturtium too ... looking a little wonky after being "wagged" by Rex.

That's it from me tonight *hugs*

Day 33

The boys were at school so I had fun in the garden really quietly since Chris was sleeping.

Miss Balla Balla enjoyed the morning sun while I did the floors first though lol.

I popped the coriander seedling into some hanging baskets... which on pulling them out of the punnets I realise they really needed it!

Next came my wayward mint that seems to have a mind of its own!  It not only grew out the top of the pot but out the bottom too... and had shoots right through the pot!  So into a hanging basket it went.

Parsley and Nasturtiums went into a few more hanging baskets along with the remaining coriander.  Some will be growing in the shade of the fence so lets see what happens.
Looking at the fence down the side... I see hanging baskets or pipes and pumps with leafy crops... in the meantime I made a start on the foam box hydroponics.

They are still a little small but had good roots.. so lettuces and mizuna got potted up...
Some into the last of the hanging baskets... I know they are way too close but I figure with the crickets and the harvest rate here they will be thinned out lol.
So I now have a corner of hanging baskets... can't wait for them to fill.

Voila... lettuces in.. box filled with just water today... I need to add nutrients but since they all have some potting mix it can wait a few days.  Hopefully I will get some volcanic rock before I do the next one.
Potatoes are making progress... ok that's it from me today *hugs* Sarah

Day 32

No photo's today... I had a "me" day so I didn't get out to the garden but Brandon informs me everything is alive and his Choc Mint has new roots... to which I told him to go cover the roots with soil ;-)  *hugs*  Sarah

Day 31

Tom raided the garden lol... Breakfast anyone?  I must admit radishes at 6.30am I cannot do!  But ooohhhh pretty colours... pinks, purples and whites so far :-)  So glad the boys are loving it.
Tom watering... he lasted a whole 5 minutes before the scooter called hehe but he does inspect early in the morning when it is too cold for the rest of us :-p
Brandy doing his thing... ready for his tour?
Insert whoops of joy here... that teeny tiny is a curry left tree... #1 woo hooo!  Brandon's pointy finger so us oldies can see what we he spotted too :-p

My lil garden gnome photographing HIS progress :-) Hope everyone is going to enjoy lettuce in a few weeks... may be this weekend we will be potting up!

California Red onions starting to come along.. and the first coriander seeds popping out their first leaves...

Brandon is in the garden so much his feet have turned green! hehe
I spy a white radish... I fear its mornings are numbered :-o

Brandon checking on the basil (slow progress there)... in the foreground  you can see a few stepping stones I put in as the boys walk right down the garden bed so I figured this might save some plants!
Brandy checking his Choc Mint... yes it was watered.
Breakfasts to come... none are ripe at the moment.
Delaware potatoes are up and trying to grow :-)  After this photo I pulled back the mulch... the ground was bone dry underneath.
Something is... EATING my rhubarb leaves!  I haven't seen anything other than maybe crickets.

Broad beans are UP and racing... I can't wait to catch Chris and the boys "stealing" off the bushes. :-)

Last but not least... my Kangaroo Paws are out :-)  I never get tired of seeing them.  Even if they do get a tad messy.  That's it from me *hugs* Sarah

Day 30!

Photos from Mr Brandon today!  Radishes and carrots... still a few more for Tom's morning raids!  Brandon's Grandpop's Lazy Housewife (apparently me lol) Bean making progress "up the stick"! *chuckle*  it gets measured every day ;-)

Grandpop's Tomatoes still going strong in the greenhouse and two "baby strawberry seedlings" I guess we have to wait a while for fruit hehe

Peas, peas and more peas!

  Brandon's pride and joy!
